When I was ten years old, I ran away to the circus

My circus was the stage - opera, and music theater. It had bright lights, gorgeous costumes, and ravishing music. My music was the music of Verdi, Bizet, and Sondheim. The stage was my refuge from a suffocating, traumatic childhood.

I had an award-winning career and I traveled the world. I sang for the Queen of Thailand and the Sultan of Oman and had lunch with the Cultural Minister of China. But when I turned 50, going about 90 mph, I crashed into burnout.

I stopped performing, on stage and in life. I dove into personal work to discover who I was without the glamour. To learn, I became a teacher. To listen, I became a coach. I saw my self-sabotaging patterns, began healing my past, and embraced forgiveness. Now I asked, who am I here to serve?
